  • I love this church. Their outreach is awesome with their global and local extend teams that serve the Sibley community on the west side, and El Cacique in the Dominican. The service and people are cool, laid-back, and down to earth. The worship is awesome! They have an intermission during the service to grab a delicious bag of popcorn and great coffee! Check it out! You'll feel like family!

  • This is an honest review of Keystone church (East Side campus): from a young-ish married man with two small children:

When I moved my family to Grand Rapids, we tried to find a church we liked- we tried many of the larger popular "non-demoninational" churches around the area- most of which I liked very much (Ada Bible & Mars Hill come to mind)- problem was for me is I felt kinda lost in a sea of people with no real connection- I made some effort to get involved in small groups in order to develop more relationships but it was a bit more difficult than I hoped (probably our fault as we have very young children, making it harder to find the right group of people) Again, just to be clear, I really liked those churches, I just wanted to try something else.

We found this church Keystone which happend to have an annex right down the street from us, so after checking out their website we decided to give it a shot. (its always a bit akward going to a new church isnt it?)

Upon entering, there was a fellow at the door handing out pamplets for the service, I grabbed some coffee from one of the servers and it was pretty good. We sat down, watched some video clips, they played some decent music and had a teaching (its projected on a screen from the other larger campus)- the teaching was great and suprisingly was quite applicable weither you were a mature chirstian or just someone who is just starting to look for God. There were maybe 80 people in the room that day?

First thing I noticed was that after the service (and during intermission) some attenders and staff said hello and attempted to make a personal connection- not in a weird or uncomfortable way at all, but just like they noticed we were new and made some small talk, asking us where we were from ect. When we were leaving one of the staff said he hopes we would come back if we enjoyed it (I probably made some smart comment- but said we would come back) They seemed like some pretty nice people and we liked the comfort level so we dicided to come back again.

After a few times back- I started to get to know the staff and some other attendees better and learned that they were very real people- transparancy would be a better term for it, it was easy to see that they werent putting on some happy fake sunday face, but that they were real christians with real struggles and issues just like all of us. I started hanging out with some of them after church and during the week and began to develop relationships with them.

Long story short, what I like about keystone (east side) is its size, not too big that you can just hide- but not too small that you feel uncomfortable. The atmosphere is nice with couches and comfortable chairs- and the teaching is done well that leads you to think about making some positive changes in your life (and the lives of others). The main thing I like about keystone are the people who made an effort to make a personal connection with us, my wife and I now both do some volenteering at the church and have developed some growing relationships with other christians there- its really been a huge help in our lives over the past year. Its all about growing relationships with other real people.

Oh and in case your wondering why I gave it only 4 stars out of 5 is because I think that even the best churches are just short a star- lol! They do have people in them after all. Hope to see you next sunday.

P.s. if your slick you can probably get one of the staff to take you out to lunch for free. Dont tell them I said that though!
